Papago Was Raising its Game (and Revenue Goals)
Papago, managed by OB Sports, is a Phoenix Arizona municipal golf course. Set on 110 acres with a backdrop of the Papago Buttes, the course has been a Valley favorite since 1963.
Daryl Crawford, General Manager, was passionate about exceeding his guests’ expectations of what traditional municipal golf looks and feels like. Papago had invested in a new clubhouse, restaurant and event pavilion, and had become the new home of the Arizona State University golf teams. These upgrades put new expectations on the course’s business performance.
OB Sports is on a never-ending search for innovative business practices that grow revenue and profits for owners. Through OB Sports, Sagacity partnered with Daryl to unlock new revenue opportunities for Papago.
A New Way to Price Tee Times
Traditionally, Papago used a simple rate schedule that changed seasonally. They manually adjusted prices and ran different specials throughout the year to drive more bookings.
Sagacity helped Papago take a new approach to their pricing strategy by integrating Dynamic Pricing Technology with its existing tee sheet software. This automated technology enabled Papago to predict future demand for every hour, and continually adjust prices to earn more from the busiest hours.
It also helped Papago sell tee times that might have previously gone unsold. Daryl’s team used to spend a lot of time managing different specials to try and drive business during slow times. Now, the Sagacity software automatically does the work for them, lowering prices based on demand to keep bookings on track.
